Ahhhh....home

My trip to Florida ended yesterday and Elisabeth and I got home late last night. It was a good time overall. I saw my parents and my mother-in-law and then spent a week at Jessica's house. It was so nice to be there with her and Jack. Unfortunately, she was sick and then I got sick AGAIN (I was SO not happy about that...I mean, come on...haven't I paid my dues already this year??). Then Jack started acting a little sick. But despite all of that, we did have a nice time. It was encouraging to spend time with another mommy and baby. It really inspired me to try harder to find a mommy group of some type around this area. We did a few fun things. We went to Sawgrass Mills (made it through Ann Taylor and then Jack got hungry but we got what we came for so that was ok). We also went to Pinecrest Gardens which is a nice park in Miami. It apparently was much shadier before all the hurricanes went through. It was pretty obvious that lots of trees were knocked down, since a bunch of them were still just laying around. One really cool thing there though is a Splash and Play for kids. Elisabeth and Jack were just a little too little for it this time, but I think they will love it when they get older. I was tempted to take a run through there. I was SO hot...I guess I've really acclimated to the Northeast. So all in all, it was a great trip and I'm looking forward to when Jessica and Jack come visit in June!

On a personal note, I have a job! Around Thanksgiving, my mom met someone who works with the Distance Education program at Boston University at a conference. They ended up talking and my mom mentioned that before Elisabeth came I was a meteorologist and taught community college. The person asked my mom if I would be interested in facilitating a course online that was going to include some meteorology components. So sent in my cv and didn't hear anything. I had pretty much forgotten about it until I was at my parent's house and I got an email asking if I was still interested. So I spoke with the professor who developed the course and I was hired to be a facilitator. Basically I will be responsible for one section of students in the course; I am a resource for them, if they have questions or problems. There are weekly discussions that I monitor and can participate in as well and I also am in charge of the grading. I get to do all of this from home, even my training! It's really the perfect opportunity for me to stay home with my lovey girl and be involved in my field. The course covers geology, hydrology, and meteorology and the students are all adult learners in the Executive BA program. Things start in the middle of March. I can also travel...as long as I have internet access 6 days a week. I can't wait for it to start.
