Thursday Night Dinner

Today is Thursday. Thursdays are always a good day. Thursdays mean "Thursday night dinner". What, you might ask, is Thursday night dinner? Every Thursday night, all different kinds of people descend on a wonderful home in Pepperell, MA to eat dinner. This is the home of Jani and Joey. It is a an over 300 year old house, with wood floors and original fireplaces and all other manner of history. Jani has known Rich since before he was born! Jani and Rich's mom are very good friends and Rich and his brother practically grew up with Jani's kids. Some of Jani's kids still live nearby and they have their own families now. Actually, her two daughters (Jenn and Julie) who live nearby are neighbors of sorts since they both live in Fitchburg. Another family also comes to have dinner who lives on the street behind Jani's house. They're for all intents and purposes part of the family too. And sometimes other people come too! So Jani cooks yummy food and we all sit down together at a very long table and eat. I think we've had 20 people sitting at that table before! I love going because I feel like even though we're far away from immediate family, we have been adopted into this one. It's nice to feel like we belong. Elisabeth has a good time watching the other kids and in the not too distant future she'll be running right beside them. There's also lots of conversation and there's always someone to laugh with you and someone to lean on when things are rough. So, today is Thursday and I'm happy because I get to go to Thursday night dinner!

That sounds so blessedly fun! Especially for a stay-at-home Mom. You are so fortunate to be around such loving, caring, familial sorts of people!
